3 Things to Prepare Your Dealership for Black Friday

Black Friday is the busiest shopping day of the year because everyone is trying to get the best deal. Not only are people scouring the internet to find the best prices on electronics and toys, but they’re also looking for the best-priced cars as well. Keep reading to find out how you can optimize your dealership for Black Friday before your customers even walk through your door.

1. Create videos advertising your fleet and your sales staff
One of the best ways you can promote your dealership is by utilizing video content. YouTube has over 2 billion active users and every single day these viewers rack up billions of hours of content watched on the site. YouTube has also become the world’s second-largest search engine (Google, of course, coming first), so chances are if someone is looking for a car, they’ll probably be looking on YouTube too. A lot of people are now using YouTube to see the inside features and capabilities of vehicles they are considering purchasing. There are a couple of ways to use video content to your advantage, one of them is giving a tour of the fleet on your lot. You can do this by giving a walkthrough of how your dealership is laid out by truly just walking around your lot and pointing out where people can find the type of vehicle they’re looking for. Another tactic is by going through specific vehicles and giving an in-depth explanation of each vehicle, the features, speed, etc. You might even want to include a test drive in the video so the viewer really gets a feel for how the car handles. Finally, you may even want to create a video introducing the lovely staff that will be seen during your Black Friday sale. This will create a sense of familiarity before your customer even enters your dealership because they’ll know the names and faces of the people they’re looking to speak to.

2. Market your deals ahead of time
Recently we’ve seen more and more stores start to advertise their Black Friday deals much earlier in advance. With Walmart doing Black Friday sales every Friday of November, people are already lining up to get the best prices of the year. If you haven’t already begun to advertise your holiday deals, it’s time to get started as soon as you can. Make sure you cover all your bases by advertising on all of your social media platforms. With social media being the new age of marketing, if you make sure to optimize your content, you’re guaranteed to reach your target audience. It’s also important to do your research and ensure that you’re posting during the right time of day. For reference, we have found that the best time to post on Instagram is between 9 am and 11 am on weekdays, especially on Wednesdays. When posting on Facebook it is best to post between 1 pm - 3 pm during the week and on Saturdays. Additionally, it would be beneficial to use more traditional advertising methods such as commercials as well.

3. Keep COVID-19 precautions in mind
Finally, based on the location of your dealership and your local ordinances, don’t forget to keep your mask on and keep common spaces as clean as you can. You’ve probably already adjusted to our “new normal” but with the likely larger influx of customers than normal, it’s better to be overly cautious than under. The safety and comfort of your customers should be your top priority. If you show your customers that you’re taking the correct precautions to keep them safe, they will appreciate your efforts and are more likely to make a purchase. Not only do you want to keep your customers safe but your staff as well. If your staff doesn’t feel comfortable with the environment you are providing, it’s likely that they won’t feel as comfortable talking to customers and making as many sales as they typically would. One precaution we recommend is handing out free masks to all who enter your dealership. These can either be the regular disposable masks or, if you want to do a little bit more promotion, you can create reusable masks with your dealership’s logo on them. Additionally, setting up hand sanitizing stations and putting stickers on the ground where lines are likely to form are great ways to promote a safe space in your dealership.

Black Friday is just around the corner so make sure you’re utilizing the holiday to boost your dealership’s sales. Although there are some new precautions to keep in mind that will create a little bit of more work at your dealership, your customers will be very grateful.
